How to select your project management tool

I’m not sure which software we should be using. It feels like all software looks similar — you just buy one and start using it. But that’s what makes this interesting: software isn’t something you can always see or easily evaluate, because its work is often invisible. That’s why the question of which project management software to use becomes so important.

If your process is simple, use a simple tool. A complex tool for a simple process only adds unnecessary burden to operations. Conversely, when your process is complex, using a simple tool can result in missed steps and major data loss.

For teams handling up to two or three projects at a time, tools like WhatsApp, Excel, or Google Sheets can work effectively. But if you're managing five or more projects and planning to scale, consider adopting dedicated platforms like Staart or Powerplay or Buildertrend.

For two to three or more large-scale projects that need integration with Sales CRM, HRMS, and accounting systems, ERPs such as Strategic, BSF, or Velocity are well-suited.

For extremely large enterprises managing multiple projects with complex, interconnected operations, comprehensive solutions like SAP or NetSuite are the ideal choices.

Software is like a weapon, and data is its bullet -without data, even the best software is powerless. The true impact of any software lies in its implementation, which depends on proper support, training, data management, and pilot testing before meaningful results emerge. We’ll explore the nuances of software implementation in an upcoming blog post.

In summary, I’d love to hear from you -share in the comments which software you’re using and why it works for you.
